Drain the apricots, reserving 4 tablespoons of the juice. Place the apple slces and apricots in a greased oven proof dish with the reserved apricot juice and toss to mix thoroughly. Sift the flour into a large bowl. Cut the butter into small cubes and rub it in with your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in the rolled oats, caster sugar and chocolate chips. Sprinkle the crumble mixture over the fruit and level the top roughly. Do not press the crumble down onto the fruit. Bake in a preheated oven at 180C/350F for 40-45 minutes or until the toppping is golden. You can serve hot or cold.
