An amazing turtle cake recipe that will melt in your mouth it's just that good. And you can easily turn this into chocolate turtle cupcakes.
The combination of caramels, chocolate, and pecans makes this cake irresistible. Your family will be coming back for more.
For such a seemingly decadently delicious cake, I was surprised to find that it is very easy to make and I'm sure it will fast become your family's favorite cake.
Although the recipe here references a boxed cake mix, feel free to use a scratch recipe instead.
I suggest the Chocolate Marshmallow Cake which you can find on the Chocolate Cakes page.

Make the cake as directed on the box.
Pour one quarter of the batter into one 9 inch round cake pan and another quarter of the batter into another 9 inch cake pan.
Bake for 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, melt caramels, margarine and carnation milk in saucepan.
Then add chocolate chips and nuts.
Once cake has baked for 15 minutes, spread the caramel mixture evenly over the 2 baked cakes, and then divide the rest of batter between the 2 cakes to cover the caramel mixture evenly and bake for 20 minutes.
When the turtle cake has cooled, top it off with an amazing chocolate buttercream frosting (recipe below). Garnish with pecans and drizzle some chocolate sauce on the serving plate and you have a cake that no one will be able to resist.
Add a little chocolate buttercream frosting and a pecan to the top and everyone will love them.
Cream shortening and butter in large bowl with electric mixer. Then add the cocoa and vanilla. Mix well until well combined.
Add milk a little at a time until the frosting is smooth, light, and fluffy.
